Public Holidays in 2007
2007 Public Holidays are days when most of the UK has a day off work. Easter, Christmas, May Day and so on
have been non-working days for many years, though increasingly people do work on these days.
Although banks, offices and most factories have a day off ever larger numbers of people in public-facing occupations
such as retailing and leisure - which are much the same thing these days at least in the eyes of women if not men -
usually work on these public holidays and indeed may get overtime, extra payments or days off in lieu. So public
holidays, much like Sundays, are loosing some of their specialness and indeed traffic congestion dictates that
for some in the UK these 2007 bank holidays will definitely be days to stay at home in 2007!
